HOPE@Motofest 2nd-3rd June 2018
(formerly known as HOPE Pentecost Celebration)
This year, HOPE Coventry are working alongside Motofest (2nd & 3rd June) again, rather than on the Pentecost weekend. Many people are unaware that Motofest is run by Jubilee Church to bless the city and celebrate its heritage. Motofest 2018 promises to be the biggest event yet with timed races for the first time, and an estimated 150,000 people attending.
The Vision: For the churches of Coventry to demonstrate their connectedness and their love for the city and its people by an act of service and generosity putting us at the heart of the festival.
The Opportunity: Prime Location: A site on Greyfriars Green, 33ft square, right by the main walkway, to provide free family based activities that demonstrate our love for the city and its people. At the heart of the event, we will run free children’s activities, Messages of Hope (a white car for doodling on), and Healing on the Streets.
The HOPE Arena: The central concert area in Greyfriars Green will be the HOPE Arena, with multiple banners proclaiming ‘HOPE Coventry – city churches working together’. Christian bands will perform on both afternoons.
HOPE United Gathering (Sunday morning): The HOPE Arena will be the focal point for the United Gathering of many churches from across Coventry on 3rd June (10.30am) when we celebrate and pray for our City. Last year we had a gathering of nine full congregations and representatives from many others. The band-led worship and prayers for the city were particularly well received by the many bystanders and fellow organisers.
The Commitment: For this to be a success, we will need city churches to support us in two ways: a) MONEY: Our budget is around £5,000, and gifts in the region of those we received for Pentecost 2016 would enable us reach this target.
b) SERVING: Get involved with the service opportunities this affords. We will need Motofest ambassadors, face painters, kids’ crafts staff, and practical helpers.Volunteering details are available to download.
Please let us know by Sunday 6th May if you are interested in taking part; email or text Angus Ormes (chair, HOPE@Motofest) on firstname.lastname@example.org or 078 7469 1211 to volunteer (with name, church & contact details). A press release for your church leaders and congregations to consider is available here.
