HOPE@Motofest 2nd-3rd June 2018
(formerly known as HOPE Pentecost Celebration)
Having run events over Pentecost weekend for 8 years, the last of which coincided with Motofest weekend, the team now feel it is right for us to work alongside Motofest (June 2nd & 3rd) again this year, moving away from the Pentecost weekend itself. Motofest attracts huge crowds into the City Centre, growing year on year, and it is run by Jubilee Church to bless the city. James Noble, an elder at Jubilee who leads the event, was very positive about our input last time, and is keen to see this continue.
HOPE will again be running activities for families in Hertford Street on both afternoons, with kids’ crafts and face painting in a large tent. We will also have a stage in Hertford Street, providing Christian solo artists with a platform to sing of God’s love. We would also love to repeat the Sunday morning united open air service we held in Greyfriars Green last year. The band-led worship and the prayers for the city were particularly well received by the many bystanders last year, and James received many positive comments from his fellow organisers. Nine churches closed their Sunday morning services to join with us. Several hundreds of people came, and it would make a wonderful act of witness and unity if even more were to join us in 2018. Church leaders – please consider being a part of this in 2018.
Volunteers with skills in working with children and face painting (very popular) are encouraged (even at this early stage!) to make themselves available for either or both afternoons. Church DBS clearance is essential. Also, those with practical skills will be needed on the Saturday morning and Sunday late afternoon. Please text Angus on 078 7469 1211 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer (with contact details), and please publicise in your church newsletters.
